The Coalition of Maritime Transport Unions and Associations (COMTUA) at the weekend issued a seven-day ultimatum to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to end illegal roadblocks and extortion points in the state.
The group in a statement signed by its National President, Adeyinka Aroyewu, stated that such illegal roadblocks and extortion points were created and mounted by both state and non-state actors.
According to the COMTUA statement on Saturday, “At the end of our weekly meeting, it has been decided that a seven-day ultimatum is issued to the governor of Lagos State to ensure that all illegal roadblocks and extortion points mounted by both state and non-state actors are removed from roads in Lagos and ensure that all offenders in the illegality arrested are prosecuted.
“Several letters written to relevant government agencies falls on deaf ears and this is a deliberate attempt to kill our business. We shall not fold our hands and allow illegal actions and inactions of government agencies to destroy our business.
“We shall not hesitate to use all means to protest against illegality and protect our business,” COMTUA said. (Courtesy, excluding headline, Daily Independent)
