Ex-Anambra First Lady Ebele Obiano
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
Details have emerged about how Ebelechukwu, wife of out-gone Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, was humiliated at the inauguration, Thursday morning, of new Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo – thus giving a clue as to why she fought with Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu at the event.
Investigations by News Express revealed that Mrs. Obiano arrived at the inauguration in a sour mood as a result of her ordeal at the gates.
First, she was stopped when her convoy attempted to use the main gate.
She was said to have arrived late for the event, while her husband who arrived much earlier had already inspected the guard of honour, and the swearing-in ritual for the new governor was ongoing when she arrived at the venue.
A barricade at the expressway, leading into the Government House, was locked with keys, while Mrs. Obiano was advised by security men to drive down to a faraway junction and turn into a smaller gate that leads to the Government House.
The erstwhile powerful Anambra First Lady refused, but later trekked from the express to the main gate, where she also caused a stir, before the gate was opened for her.
She later trekked into the Government House, where the function held, abandoning her convoy.
Meanwhile, Bianca, wife of late Igbo legend, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, had arrived the venue of the event early took a front seat beside then outgoing governor Obiano. This appeared to have stirred some bile in Mrs Obiano, as she was seen approaching Bianca and reportedly raining insults on her.
In a swift reaction Bianca, widow of the late National Leader of the ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), smacked her and Mrs Obiano held and drew her hair, before security operatives separated then.
Earlier reports had indicated that Mrs. Obiano frist slapped Bianca but video clips suggested otherwise.
Mrs. Obiano and her husband left the inauguration ceremony immediately after Prof. Soludo was sworn-in.
