Victory College Ikare, Ondo State
Victory College Ikare, Ondo State will hold a seven-day commemoration of its 75th Founders’ Day between 21st and 27th February, 2022.
An anniversary service, according toastatement, has been scheduled to hold on Monday, 21st February while a thanksgiving service will take place on Sunday, 27th February, 2022. Students of Victory College, Ikare and other colleges are expected to participate in an inter-school quiz competition on 22nd February as well as an inter-house sport on February 23rd.
The statement signed by the National President of Old Students’ Association (VICOSA) of Victory College Ikare, Prof. Michael Faborode and the Chairman, Anniversary Planning and Implementation Committee, Otunba Olusoga Orogun, also contains the commemoration among other activities.
Faborode and Orogunconfirmed the setting up of a Planning and Implementation Committee for this year’s Founders’ Day anniversary towards ensuring a successful event. The Anniversary Planning and Implementation Committee is chaired by Otunba Olusoga Orogun which also includes: Olugbenga Ajanaku, Co-Chairman; Yinka Jonah, Secretary; Olufemi Oyewole, Member, and Adedoyin Alao, Member.
The statement further disclosed that a career talk and workshop has been arranged for the students on 24th February while the annual general meeting of VICOSA and awards presentations would hold on 25th February, 2022.
Victory College Ikare, Akoko premier school was founded on 23rd February, 1947 by Anglican Missionary from Clarendon, Jamaica, Archdeacon Augustus Lachland Lennon.
He started his missionary journey at the St. Andrews College, Oyo. Lennon (then a reverend) was posted to Ikare-Akoko as a church superintendent with a mandate to propagate Christianity in the area, he founded many primary schools in Akoko and Ebira towns and eventually founded Victory College at a time only two secondary schools (Ondo Boys High School and Imade College Owo) were in what represents Ondo State today.
Victory College, Ikare is renowned for its academic success at the junior and senior secondary school levels.
