The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed that two persons died and another two persons survived a boat mishap at Zangon Durgu Village in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of the state.
This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the Public Relations Officer of the State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Monday in Kano.
“We received a distress call from Mr Munir Dahiru at 11:50 a.m. that a canoe had capsized.
“Upon receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at about 12:30 p.m. to bring out the victims’’ the statement said.
He said the mishap involved four persons – two persons, Sha’aban Bala, 35 and Rabiu Bashari, 30, died while two persons – Sani Shitu, 25, Jabir Sani, 30, were rescued.
Abdullahi said the victims boarded the canoe from Zangon Durgu to Kanya village when the incident occurred.
“The dead victims were handed over to Shafi’u Abdullahi-Gulu the Vice-Chairman ofRimin Gado Local Government Area.
“The cause of incident is under investigation”, he said. (NAN)
