Militants identified as Black Marine members, suspected to be the armed wing of Biafra Nations League (BnL) have reportedly gunned down a Nigerian Navy officer in Oron beach, Akwa Ibom State.
The incident was aid to have taken place yesterday afternoon, Monday, January 31, 2022, when the militants, who were waving the Biafran flag on a speedboat, were confronted by a Nigerian Navy patrol team.
Also yesterday, some members of BnL reportedly resisted arrest by the Police in Calabar, neighbouring Cross River State, after a march by the group at Marian road as at 11:00 a.m.
A source said: “The separatist group might be acting on the ultimatum giving to the Federal Government to release all Biafrans including Mai Nnamdi Kanu leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Benjamin Onwuka of Biafra Zionist Federation, and recognition of Biafra as a sovereign state.”
