Agbigborodo community in Warri North Local Government Area, has called on its sons and daughters both home and abroad to exercise restraint towards the recent press release made by Okpe Youth Council(OYC)on televisionlayingclaims toUtonyasere and Gbekoko lands.
TheChairmanofAgbigborodo Community Management Committee, Honourable Misan Ukubeyinje,who made the appeal,saidthatthedispute was currently beinghandled by the DeltaStateGovernmentand that it would be wrong to engage in claims and counter-claims.
He revealed that the state government had set up a judicial panel of enquiry to look into the forest reservethat was the bone of contention.
“Every community including Abigborodo community affected by the said forest reserve submitted a memorandumbefore the said panels and made presentations.
“The panel has made their findings and submitted same to the state. The Delta State Government is yet to release the white paper as it affects the report of the judicial panel of enquiry.”
“Agbigborodo community is in the awe at the recent press release by OYC that despite the press release by the Delta State Government asking all parties to the dispute to stop hostilities with regard to the yet to be released white paper,” he said.
