The Biafra Nations League (BnL) has exempted itself from those calling for political solution to Biafra, faulting the calls for political solution over the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by some elders of Igbo extraction.

In a statement released by the Standing Committee of Senior Officials of BnL, (S.C.S.O) which was signed by the Chairman, who is BNL’s Admin Officer, Godstime Ntukidem, the group faulted the Igbo elders for continuously begging President Mohammadu Buhari for negotiations, even after he (Buhari) has insisted that he would not consider their demands unless Kanu behaves himself.

The statement urged the Igbo elders to stop such begging, “because, ‘behave himself’, as used by Buhari implies that Kanu must drop the struggle or accept conditions as set by the federal government.”

According to BnL, the Federal Government or a neutral body should be the one to call for negotiation, not elders of the Biafran region.

The Standing Committee also advised the IPOB to reject any negotiation with the federal government over Kanu’s release “or meet its end.”

The Committee insisted that the January 23 ultimatum issued by the leadership of BnL for the release of all detained Biafran leaders, still stands and would be followed accordingly, adding that all officers of the group were working hand-in-hand to ensure that the decision of BnL which was reached in Bakassi Peninsula few weeks ago was implemented across areas of their influence.

BnL, however, warned that failure to release Kanu, Benjamin Onwuka and all Biafrans in detention would attract aggressive agitations.
