Ebonyi State Police Command spokesperson, Loveth Odah
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has raised the alarm over the whereabouts of its Publicity Secretary, Chika Nwoba
It claimed that armed men believed to be members of the state’s security outfit, Ebubeagu, abducted Nwoba Sunday morning.
Chairman of the Party, Chief Tochukwu Okorie, told The Nation that the abduction took place along the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway.
According to him, Nwoba was in company of the party’s Deputy Chairman, Ifeanyi Nworie, when he was “intercepted and kidnapped.”.
He explained that after the abduction, Nworie notified the anti-kidnapping unit of the state Police Command of the incident.
Okorie said the men of the unit swung into action and intercepted the criminals at Ahia-Ofu and rescued the victim.
“The Publicity Secretary is not being allowed to see anybody at the Police station. What is he being suspected of?. Anybody not supporting this(Dave Umahi) administration is an endangered species, including the PDP.
“Chika Nwoba published a photograph of a member of Ebubeagu carrying AK 47. Chika Nwoba had been in hiding until today. We call on the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, the National Security Adviser, Babagan Munguno, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Usman to take notice of what is happening in Ebonyi State. Nobody is safe unless you are a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The Police are keeping him in their custody so that they can arraign him in a kangaroo court. The abductee’s telephone is still with the abductors. He was beaten mercilessly by his abductors. Why would the Police allow the abductors to go and then arrest their victim?”
Police spokesperson, Loveth Odah, said she was not aware of the incident when contacted.
Stanley Emegha, the security consultant to the state government on Security whose office supervises Ebubeagu, could not be reached for comments. (The Nation)
