The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, accompanied by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, led other top government functionaries on a courtesy visit on former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, at his country home in Toru Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, on Friday, December 31, 2021.

Senator Dickson, in company of his wife, along with the Toru Orua Traditional Council of Chiefs who had earlier paid him a courtesy visit, received the Bayelsa State Governor.

Senator Dickson has been on vacationing in Toru Orua where he has had a busy schedule of sporting and development-based initiatives sponsored by his organisation, the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation (HSDF).

Governor Diri said the former Governor of the state, Senator Dickson and his Restoration Administration were the father of his Prosperity Administration.

Speaking earlier, Senator Dickson said he and Governor Douye Diriwere long-time allies, right from their days as activists in the Ijaw National Congress, thus describing Senator Diri as his brother, friend and colleague, adding that he would continue to treasure their relationship.

Senator Dickson re-emphasized the significance of the Governor’s visit “as a mark of fraternity, brotherliness, support and encouragement for one another.”

He enjoined those working with the governor and the state government to sustain the existing spirit of unity, solidarity and support for one another.

Dickson described the visit by the Governor Diri and team as an ambush, while promising to “retaliate,” and thanked Governor Diri and his entourage which included top government functionaries, for the visit.

Responding, Governor Dirisaid they came to celebrate with their leader, adding that God has used Senator Dickson to “give birth to a Governor,” stressing that “for this reason, Senator Seriake Dickson is actually a father because God used Dickson to make him Governor.”
