Kaduna NUJ Chairman, Asmau Yawo Halilu

The President, Peace Revival Foundation of Nigeria, Pastor Yohanna Buru, has hailed the role of the media in peace building, particularly journalists in Kaduna State.
Speaking on New Year’s Day Celebration at Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna Council, Buru said without journalists he was not sure he could have been able to preach the message of peace.
“My appointment in the United Nations is because of the support from the media in Kaduna State,” he stressed.
According to Buru, the year 2022 NUJ Kaduna Media Parley was the eighth year he was celebrating with Journalists in Kaduna, adding that the purpose for the dinner was to acknowledge what journalists were doing for peace in Nigeria and beyond. He said that journalists deserve all the honour.
“The New Leadership of NUJ is doing a good work and I can seethe clear difference, the environment is looking good,” Buru added.
Speaking at the event, the first female Chairman of Kaduna Council, Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu, assured stakeholders of her resolve to ensure factual and balance reportage geared towards promoting peace.
Earlier, Imam Sabon Layi Kurmin Mashi, Rabo Abdullahi, hailed journalists for leading the path of peace in Nigeria, praying that Almighty Allah bless the Media profession with the grace to continue its efforts towards peace building.
Also speaking, a former Chairman of NUJ, Kaduna Council and one-time acting National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Andrew Fadason, thanked God for having the first female Chairman of Kaduna Council.
Fadason called on all and sundry to continuously pray for the bond of the media, irrespective of their faith, stressing that Nigerians must be blind to religion to progress.
