Deputy Senate President Omo-Agege
A chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Ufuoma Deniran, has reportedly rejected a 25kg bag of rice Christmas gift from the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, while attributing his decision for the rejection partly to the aftermath of the grievances that trailed the result of the party congresses in Delta State.
“You give and accept gifts from loved ones and not from those who don’t want things to be done in the right way. I have long sent this signal”, Deniran reportedly said in a statement made available to journalists in Warri on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the bag of rice which was reportedly delivered to the residence of Deniran by the Ethiope East LGA Secretary of the Sobotie-led Exco of the APC, Blessing Etaghene, while he (Deniran) was away in Benin, was returned to the office of Ejiro Etaghene by the aggrieved party chieftain.
In a swift reaction, however, Liaison Officer of the Constituency Office of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Chuks Erhire, has said that Chief Deniran has the right to either accept or reject the Christmas gift.
Erhire told newsmen that there were several people on ground itching to receive yuletide gift from the Deputy Senate President with joy and gratitude. (The PUNCH)
