A member of the House of Representatives from Ebonyi State, Hon Chinedu Ogah, has used the Christmas celebrations to touch the lives of widows and indigent persons in his constituency.

Ogah who represents Ikwo/ Ezza South federal constituency on Sunday distributed cash, bags of rice, wrappers worth N7,000, food condiments, other items to over 5, 000 widows, orphans and other indigent persons in his constituency.

Ogah, who distributed the items at his Item Amagu hometown, Ikwo local government area, of Ebonyi State, noted that high level of hunger in the constituency made him to launch the ‘stomach infrastructure’ programme.

He stated: “We did a research. We sent some of our committee members who are here to carry out needed assessment of our people and we discovered that the major problem in this constituency is hunger. This is why we tagged this empowerment ‘stomach infrastructure.

“Some of our women that benefited from this empowerment have no wrapper. We gave each of them branded wrapper which is almost N7,000 each. We gave them food condiments, rice and many other items and that is why we tagged this empowerment stomach infrastructure.”

“My message to my constituency as we are entering 2022 is that we should be united, we should live in peace and support government in power and all the leaders we have. We should support our Governor, support our President, support journalists that are reporting what is good and make sure we do what is right”, he stated.

Meanwhile, the federal lawmaker on December, 23 noted that about 50, persons were empowered after being trained in POS business.

Ogah, stated this while inspecting the level of work at Amuzu community civic centre, in Ezza South local government area of the State.

The lawmaker, noted that he attracted the project and the beneficiaries were trained in Abuja and at the end of the training they were given POS and other necessities to start up their own small scale business.

He said that apart from the 50 persons, that recently 8000 people from Ikwo and 4,000 from Ezza South were empowered, adding that some of them have started receiving alerts of N30,000, some N20,000.

Ogah, stated that the empowerment programmes were his own way of addressing crimes in his constituency and the state at large.

He advocated for the revival of peoples culture, adding: “Here is the ancestral home of the whole Ezza nation, likewise in Ikwo where the civic centre is situated.

“Before we began the projects we did a research and when they are completed we would make sure we have a compendium of our culture and put it there, so that the younger generation can go there to carry out research. If we know our history we will not engage in war.”

“I’m embarking on all these projects in my constituency because my constituents voted for me, they gave me their mandate. This project was domicile in the National Institute of Road Infrastructure, Abuja.

“The civic center is completed and work is on-going on the link road to the hall. We are also building one at Ngam Ngbom ward in Ikwo and by God’s grace by next year January that one will be completed too.

“That one was domicile in the Federal co-operative College Oji River. We are trying to give our people the best, because culture is what the people are known for. We need to reactivate our culture, it will bond us together, bring unity and understanding.

“It is unfair that our people want to gather but there is no place for them to come together because of rain or sun. That is why we came up with the idea of building civic centers. The civic centers will be powered by solar system,” Ogah said.
