The Imo State Police Com­mand which had been on the trail of suspected serial killers/armed who present­ed themselves to their unsus­pecting victims as oil dealers, deceived and Killed them while taking them to where their products were stored had eventually apprehended the suspects.

The State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, said luck ran out against them on December 3 when the three-man syndicate, Ejike Nwachukwu and two others, hired one Chinedu Alum, a mini-bus operator who plied Ohaji/Egbema to Owerri to convey their oil products from Etekuru in Ohaji/Egbema to Owerri.

“The unsuspecting driv­er happily obliged them and they agreed on a specified fee,” he said.

CP Hussani who disclosed this while briefing news­men on the achievements of his men in the fight against crime and criminality in the state said that on their way, the three passengers turned armed robbers shot the vic­tim severally and pushed him out of the vehicle, believing he was dead and zoomed off with his blue coloured Mini- Bus popularly called “BUS IMO”.

Relying on diligent gath­ering of both credible infor­mation and technical intelli­gence, the suspects, he said, were eventually arrested, and they confessed to the com­mission of the crime and also revealed how they hired and killed two drivers at the same point in the bush.

“They also claimed to have robbed from their victims-a red coloured Toyota Solara Car and a black coloured Toy­ota Camry car and sold them at the rates of three hundred thousand Naira (N300,000.00) and Two Hundred Thousand naira (N200,000.00) respective­ly to a receiver”.

The Police Chief added that the suspect who upon interrogation confessed to be the buyer/receiver of the sto­len vehicles is now assisting the police in their investiga­tion.

CP Hussaini who exposed all exhibits recovered from the suspects in addition to the arrest of three suspect­ed child traffickers – Daniel John “m” of Umueso Abiriba in Ohafia Council area, Chi­gozie Okereke “m” of Ndio­koronkwo Atani in Arochuk­wu council area and Blessing Kalu “f” of Amaogudu Abiriba, also in Ohafia coun­cil area all in Abia State, the command equally nabbed a number of suspected armed robbers/motorcycle snatch­ers with exhibits recovered from them.
