The needy have stocked up food for Christmas in three communities in Alayi, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State; thanks to LifeCare humanitarian initiative. LifeCare palliative outreach programme targets those that need support to survive the excruciating economic hardship in the country. Many smiled home in the three chosen Alayi communities on Saturday, December 18, 2021, equipped to celebrate Christmas in grand style.
LifeCare, an NGO headquartered in the United States with branches in Nigeria and Togo, distributed assorted types of food and personal protective gear against coronavirus to pregnant women, widows, the elderly, mad men and women in these communities. Beneficiaries wearing assorted multi-coloured clothes graced the event resembling Christmas decoration with assorted coloured ornaments – making some observers to say that LifeCare had kicked off Christmas festivity in Alayi ancient kingdom.
The benefitting communities were Ezi Alayi Elu, Ezi Alayi Agbo and Ogwumabiri. During the exercise as in all LifeCare Covid-19/Variant era relief operations, both staff and beneficiaries were made to wear face masks, as wella s wash and sanitise their hands. Beneficiaries went home with all they were given including face masks.
LifeCare President, Dr. Lucy Evans, speaking to reporters from her U.S. base assured that the NGO would take more giant strides in humanitarian services in Nigeria as more resources become available.
