PDP National Chairman Ayu
Lamenting the scorching hardship the All Progressive Congress (APC), has subjected Nigerians to since the past six years, Iyorchia Ayu, the newly sworn-in national Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said: “That the earlier quit notice issued to APC by the party at its last convention in October is once more renewed today.”
In his inaugural speech at the International Conference Centre Abuja, Ayu said the greatest harm APC has done to Nigeria is the destruction of a collective hope and confidence people have for the entity called Nigeria.
He further said: “It’s this state of hopelessness and loss of confidence in Nigerian nation, created by APC leadership, that gives rise to agitation for separation among the people.
Ayu regretted that the government which ought to protect lives and property of the people had instead, allowed bandits to share boundaries with us, raping our women, kidnapping and killing our people.
Ayu also recalled that the gains of democracy which PDP bequeathed on Nigeria such as making Nigeria a debt-free nation and fastest growing economy in Africa, among other things, are gradually being destroyed now by the leadership of APC.
Reeling out PDP’s contributions to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria, Ayu mentioned the establishment of EFCC,ICPC, including the stability of the National Assembly under the leadership of Anyim Pius Anyim, David Mark, etc.
The same institutions, he said, were being bastardized today by the ruling APC government.
Lamenting further, he said that the debt burden being foisted on this nation by APC may not be settled by two, three generations of Nigerians.
He therefore challenged Nigerians to resist the attempt by a small clique which lacks directions and visions to hold Nigeria down.
He therefore assured that “under my leadership, PDP will restore hope; under my supervision, PDP will restore confidence and PDP under my watch will unite the people.”
