Veteran musician, Charly Boy
Veteran musician and television presenter, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has appealed to young men and women in the South East part of the country to stop the consumption of Methamphetamine or Crystal Meth, referred to in local parlance as Mkpuru Miri.
The 71 years old former president of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) who is also known as CB, His Royal Punkness, and Area Fada, made the appeal in a video titled “Say no to drugs” posted on his Instagram page Monday.
According to him, the substance which was reportedly brought into the country by a Mexican drug cartel is a killer drug and the youths of Igboland do not deserve such.
He said he’s concerned as a father, and that Igbo youths are known globally for their resilience, hard work and enterprise, not for destroying themselves with hard drugs.
“Mkpurumiri has destroyed many of our youths. Biko don’t get started, you are better than that,” he pleaded.
