PDP chieftain Oseloka Obaze

Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Oseloka Obaze, has empowered four students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU or Unizik), Awka.
Speaking, weekend, as a guest lecturer on the theme, “Empowering the Nigerian Youth Through Sports and Entertainment/The Role of Good Governance” during the National Economics Students Association (NESA) Day and maiden NESA Marathon, Obaze harped on the need to develop entrepreneurial spirit early.
He urged the students to accord self development a priority, saying that white collar jobs are mostly not readily available after graduation.
He observed that the ones available are often offered to relatives of those in the corridors or to the highest bidder.
While delivering his lecture, the retired Diplomat reiterated the need for government to empower the youths by creating programmes and events that will provide the right skills.
He added: “The entrepreneurial spirit of the youths should be encouraged and supported.”
Obaze gave a total of two hundred thousand naira to four students to assist them start a POS business.
According to him, the gesture was aimed at not just assisting the students but a way of reducing over dependence, indulgence in crime, among others.
He hailed the Head of Department, Dr Ebele Nwokoye, for the innovation behind the programme.
Responding, the Head, Department of Economics, Dr. Ebele Nwokoye, thanked Obaze for his philanthropic gesture towards the students.
She called on other well-meaningindividuals in the society to emulate his kind gesture.
Nwokoye advised the students to utilize the funds given to them for the stated purpose.
