Vice Chancellor, Kogi State University Anyigba, Prof Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, has commended the National Productivity Centre (NPC) for bridging the dearth of information and communication technology (ICT) through donation of 20 HP laptop computers tothe institution.

The Vice-Chancellor made the commendation at the council chamber of the institution during the presentation of the items to the management of the university.

She noted that the quick response of NPC will not only revitalise the digital centre of the institution, but also stabilise ICT development in the ivory tower.

Prof. Tenuche stressed the need to support tertiary institutions in the area of digital development and advancement in line with the new world order.

She thanked the NPC management for considering Kogi State University as part of their targeted high institutions in the ongoing ICT programme across the country, stating that more assistance would be needed in other areas.

“We have been facing so many challenges on how to equip the university computer centre to sustain the digital center, but some of our items are already obsolete and in bad shape,” she said.

Earlier, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, of the university, Dr Daniel Atidoga, expressed gratitude to NPC for their prompt response on the need for their interventions in the Institution.

“I was in Abuja officially to interface with the DG NPC on the need to extend their programmes in all areas to the institution. Though he expressed reservation for this year 2021, yet he was able to carry out this donation of computers,” Dr. Atidoga said.

He also expressed delight on the positive response, calling on the state and federal agencies to contribute their own quota to the development of the university.

Dr Atidoga stressed the need for constant support both from the public and private sector, as such support will be an extension of social services.
