The All Progressive Congress Zamfara State on Saturday held awards Congress in 147 wards across the state.
There were reports of a massive turnout in the ward congress
At Galadima and Kayyaye/Matusgi wards under Talata Mafara local government, where the former governor, Abdulaziz Yari hails from, the congress was conducted smoothly without rancour.
Our correspondent who observed the exercise at the two wards, reports that party members turned out in their large numbers to participate in the exercise.
After much horse-trading, congress was able to produce executive members to pilot the affairs of the party in the two through consensus.
The Sole Administrator, Talata Mafara Local Government Council, Mr. Dahiru Maiyara, commended the party members for a rancour free ward congress across the local government.
Dahiru admonished the newly elected party leaders to be transparent and carry party members in running the affairs of the party.
The delegates who spoke to your correspondent affirmed Governor Bello Matawelle as the leader of the party in the state.
The monitoring team sent to the state by the APC national headquarters led by Ibrahim Masari, urged the delegates to conduct themselves peacefully, stressing that where the people fail to agree on consensus there will be an election.
Meanwhile, the faction of APC in the state led by Yari boycotted the exercise.
A statement by its caretaker publicity secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Birnin Magaji urged members to boycott the congress due to the court order stopping the Congress.
THISDAY also gathered that a state high court sitting in Gusau has fixed 17, November 2021 for ruling on the case.
It could be recalled that the APC in Zamfara State has been factionalised into two since the defection of Governor Bello Matawelle.
One was led by former Yari and in his camp were former members of the national assembly, state assembly, and commissioners, while the other group was led by Governor Matawalle with members of the present national, state assembly, commissioners, and special advisers. (THISDAY)
