Ndigbo Lagos, a non-partisan umbrella body of Igbo organizations, has congratulated Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo on his victory at the just concluded Anambra State governorship election.
The group in a statement issued on Thursday, signed by the duo of President General Gen. Obi Abel Umahi (Rtd), and Secretary General, Chief Chuma Igwe, hailed President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies for providing adequate security that laid the foundation for a free, fair and credible election in the state.
It also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for creditably discharging their constitutional responsibilities, especially in the use of electronic voting and
transmission, saying that it gave the people opportunity to make their choice of who governs them.
The statement partly reads: “Ndigbo Lagos congratulates the good people of Anambra for repositioning itself for development.
“Ndigbo Lagos would like to state as follows: we appreciate the peace and stability, the progress of Anambra State and the restored peace in the South-East.
“We hail the candidates for conducting a robust, issue-based campaign. We also applaud the people that turned out, without fear of intimidation to vote with decorum and in the spirit of sportsmanship.
“We as Ndigbo Lagos join millions of Ndigbo to heartily congratulate Prof. Charles Chukwuma.”
It urged those that lost to accept Soludo, the Governor Elect of Anambra State, reminding them that he (Soludo) has been declared winner by INEC.
Ndigbo Lagos called on the losers to shelve the idea of going to court, reminding them of the peace accord they signed before the election.
