The Ebonyi State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Tuesday inducted the 2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream ‘l’ Corps Members for their one year compulsory service to the nation.

Speaking during the event at the NYSC Permanent Site, Old MacGregor College, Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, NYSC Director General, Brig.-Gen. Shuabu Ibrahim, commended the Corps members for their successful completion of their academy activities, which led to their deployment to the orientation camp.

The NYSC Director General ably represented by the State Coordinator, Mrs Bamai Mercy Dawuda, further described the orientation course as the launch-pad of the service year, meant to prepare the corps members physically and mentally towards promoting national development.

Mrs Bamai who urged the corps members to actively participate in the camp activities, mentioned leadership coaching, paramilitary drills and other physical trainings as the scheme's cardinal programmes in the orientation camp.

She asked the corps members to always make themselves available for the

Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme of the camp to get equipped for employment opportunity, noted that NYSC deliberately deployed the corps members outside their states to broaden their understanding of the country in promoting national unity.

The State Coordinator advised the corps members to always practice healthy interactions, exchange of ideas and building lasting friendships with a view to advancing the progress of a united Nigeria.

“Be guided by the letter and the spirit of the NYSC oath which you have taken today,” she advised.

She also cautioned the corps members against indulgence in cultism, drug abuse and other social vices, urging them to use social media for positive purpose especially on building unity rather than rumour peddling and promotion of hatred in the society.

Bamai advised the corps members to always observe COVID-19 protocols, beginning from taking its vaccines, according to the Federal government's directives on civil servants, as it might also be applied to them.

She therefore, commended the efforts of the Federal and State governments alongside the aiding agencies especially the security agencies for their respective contributions while carrying out their activities in the camp.
