There is commotion at the Federal High Court in Abuja where the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamd Kanu, is being tried on treason and felony charges.
The lawyers said to number about 500 were turned back at the main gate of the court on the ground that they were not accredited for the case.
News Express reliably gathered that most of the lawyers are from the south-eastern part of the country where Nnamdi Kanu comes from.
Tempers rose when the lawyers sought to use raw power to force their way into the court.
Stern-looking operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), however, resisted and blocked the legal practitioners from having their way.
At the time of this report, a serious shouting match was going on, with the lawyers condemning the action of the security agents.
Meanwhile, former Anambra State governor, Chief Chukuemeka Ezeife, who is standing for Ohanaeze Ndigbo to watch the trial, was seen addressing the lawyers who are mainly from South-East Region.
