The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Water Board has announced that it will halt supply in some areas from Monday.
In a statement, the board announced that the suspension, which will last five days, will take effect from Monday.
The board announced that this is to enable it carry out some rehabilitation works.
It said it would shut down phases 1, 3 and 4 treatment plants for five days to enable the connection of a bypass trunk line to Kubwa main line for the rehabilitation of the treated water tank’s roof slab.
It said the maintenance would take place in two phases with phase one starting from Monday, October 18, to Tuesday, October 19, and phase two from Friday, October 22, to Sunday, October 24.
The statement reads in part: “Consequently, there will be disruption of water supply first to the residents of Kubwa, Airport and Gwagwalada. Similarly, there will be disruption of water supply in Maitama, Asokoro, Garki 1, Garki 2, Karu, Nyanya, Kubwa 1, Kubwa 2, Wuse 1 and Wuse 2, Barracks and the Central Area.’’
While regretting the inconvenience the rehabilitation work will cause, the board advised residents of the affected areas to start storing water to use during the period.
This is coming after water producers in the nation’s capital have jerked up the price of sachet water from N10 to N20.
