Late CSP Kazeem Abonde
. . . Manhunt launched for killers
The senior Police officer killed on Thursday by okada riders (commercial motor cyclists) was due for retirement next year, dependable sources at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters disclosed on Friday. CSP Kazeem “was due for retirement next year.”
The officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Kazeem Abonde, was said to have been stabbed to death by okada riders around Ajao Estate off Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road.
According to a statement on Friday afternoon by the Command’s spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ajao Estate, CSP Abdullahi Malla and other police officers were injured during the attack.
Ajisebutu said: “The Lagos State Police Command lost one of its finest officers during a raid on criminal hideouts in Ajao Estate, Lagos State, yesterday, 23rd September, 2021.
“The incident happened when tactical teams of the command comprising men drawn from RRS, Taskforce, Ajao Estate Division and other divisions were carrying out raid of identified flashpoints and enforcing the ban on use of motorcycles in restricted areas in the Estate and similar places in the state.
The Lagos Police hierarchy has vowed to track down Abonde’s killers.
“We are launching manhunt for the killers. He can’t just die like that,” a senior officer vowed.
Before his death CSP Kazeem was the Principal Staff Officer in the Operations Department of the police command. (Partly based on a report by THE SUPREME)
