The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service, Technical and Recreational Employees (AUPCTRE) has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari over the running of the Corporate Affairs Commission.

In the petition, the union prayed for President Buhari’s intervention to save the soul of the organisation, its employees and the nation.

The petition, dated September 09, 2021, was signed by the AUPCTRE General Secretary, Comrade Waheed Sikiru.

AUPCTRE expressed concern on the “significance and strategic important of CAC to the Nigerian Economy, which the President Buhari-led administration has done a lot to provide the enabling environment for Ease of Doing Business.”

The union lamented that Registrar-General of the commission, Garba Abubakar has refused to key into that vision since his assumption of duty.

It explained that due to the maladministration in CAC, the union petitioned the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) with substantial evidence against the Registrar-General, which was acknowledged, and the union was invited to defend its position, which they did, hoping that justice will be done but this has not been addressed till date.

The House of Representatives last month accused the Abubakar-led management of unnecessary spending and denying the Federal Government revenue.

The House Committee on Finance had threatened to shut down CAC for having a higher expenditure than its generated revenue between 2016 and 2021.

The panel also asked the Budget Office to suspend the budgetary approval for the commission until it presented reports of all expenditures. (The Nation)
