A skill acquisition, capacity building, trainings and empowerment of constituents program in Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency has commenced in Bassa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The three weeks program organised by the House of Representatives member representing the Federal Constituency, Hon Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa, was declared open in Oguma headquarters of the Local Government.

The trainings/skill development which covers all the 10 wards of Bassa local government, is expected to train unspecified number of trainees in all skill and trainees and will in turn train others to ensure economic and self sustenance in the rural communities.

The first batch of trainees will be provided with starter parks in their various skills that will attract more trainees as well as the new trainers to be engaged to ensure synergy and continuity.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Federal Lawmaker enjoined constituents to avail themselves of this greater opportunity to ensure self reliance and economic independence and development.

He said the world over, skill acquisition, development, and trainings is the order of the day, particularly in view of the growing economic and political crises compounded by myriads of health challenges including the dreaded COVID-19.

Hon Baiwa maintained that the era of scrambling for white collar jobs, and rural-urban migration is no longer in vogue as the rural areas are now the hub of both social and economic growth in Nigeria.

He promised to sustain the programme in the next two years and urged participants to take advantage of the programme to restore their economic status.

The federal lawmaker said the programme is a continuous exercise as it will move from Bassa to Dekina to ensure every eligible youth is trained on a particular skill and art.

He commended the people of the area for embracing the new program while expressing confidence in the people of the area over their zeal and quest for self realisation.
