Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday stormed Anambra State to flag off electronic membership registration exercise for the party.

Among them were Godwin Obaseki (Edo State), ’Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Abia State’s Okezie Ikpeazu.

According to the state chief executives, the party chose Anambra as the flag-off point because of the forthcoming governorship election in the state slated for November 6, 2021.

The governors, led by Obaseki, gave assurance that the party’s candidate, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, and his deputy, Mrs Azuka Enemuo, will emerge victorious at the poll.

While urging voters in the state to obtain their voters cards to enable them vote for the party, Obaseki, who is the Chairman of E-Registration exercise, added: “We chose Anambra State as first state to launch it due to the November 6 gubernatorial poll.

“The leadership of the party across 326 electoral wards would drive the registration among the populace.”

In their separate speeches, Makinde and Ikpeazu called on party faithful not to be deterred or scared over anything, promising that the PDP leaders across Nigeria would work tirelessly with them for success of its candidate.

They urged Anambra voters to get ready to vote and protect their votes from the polling unit to collection centres, till victory is assured, adding: “Your destinies are in their hands.”

Speaking at the event, the governorship candidate of the party, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, harped on the need for electronic registration.

He called on eligible voters in the state to also participate on the continuous voters registration exercise in other to be eligible to vote.

Earlier in her speech, the Chairperson of Valentine Ozigbo Campaign Council, Senator Uche Ekwunife, called for unity of purpose among the PDP leaders to enable victory for Ozigbo.
