Goods worth millions of naira were over the weekend distributed to students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU or UNIZIK), Awka, by an advocacy group, Youth Advocate for Peace Justice and Empowerment Network (YAPJEN).

Addressing the students, the President of the group, Ambassador Timothy Nwachukwu, who also launched a platform known as ‘Touch A Life Campaign’, said the major aim of the group was to touch the lives of students and the needy in the society.

He said the gesture was to assist the less privileged students of the institution cushion the effects of the hard times, saying that the benefiting students were believed to be stranded financially on the campus.

He added: “Touch A Life Campaign is aimed at reaching out to the society especially needy students across tertiary Institutions and secondary schools, and putting smiles on the face of Students, who are facing difficulties due to the current economic realities in the country.

"The campaign is part of the efforts of YAPJEN/EBAM towards the achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goal, working to end hunger by the year, 2030 and ensure access to all, especially, the poor and people in vulnerable situations, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round.”

Nwachukwu, who is also the National President of Ebonyi Ambassadors Movement (EBAM), further appealed to the general public and well-meaning individuals in the society to support the efforts of the non-governmental organisation in reaching directly to young people who are in need.

While stating that their target is to touch thousands of lives of students in Nigeria, he reinstated the group’s commitment towards reaching out to other students across other Institutions.

The distribution, which took place at the Faculty of Law of the University, witnessed a large turnout of students, who expressed happiness over the kind humanitarian gesture of the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), group.

Some of the students who benefitted from the gesture, stated that their joy knew no bounds as the campaign came at a time that most of them needed it most, and prayed to God to bless the donor, while calling on the general public to always remember the needy.
