Envagelical Church Winning All (ECWA) President Dr Stephen Baba Panya has called on Federaland state Governments to as a matter of urgency send relief matterialsto the displaced and distressed victims of Irigwe of Bassa LGA of Plateau State.
Dr Panya in a strong worded statement issued to newsmen in Jos on Wednesday, said that many of the displaced persons have become homeless, helpless and hungry which should beurgently attended to by relevant government agencies.
According to him, Governments should also deposit funds with reputable hospitals for the treatment of the Bassa LGA crisis who sustained injuries of various degrees.
“We are equally calling on well meaning Nigerians, to be their brothers keepers, open up their homes for the displaced persons, provide them support for food,water, clothing and medical services to all the victims” ECWA President appealed.
He lamented that for over 21 years, the Irigwe people of Miango,a predominant Christian community in Plateau State have been under attacks from Fulani Militia that resulted in loss of lives , properties and farm land.
Dr Panya disclosed further that” The last 2 weeks, from Sunday 23rd July to Monday 2nd August 2021had been the worst nightmares of the entire Irigwe land “
The ECWA leader wondered why Fulani Militia with every of their might, invaded about 15 villages, burnt and destroyed not less than 405 houses and churches Inclusive, displaced about 200,000 people and destroyed thousands of hectares of farm crops without being halted by security agencies from doing so. .
Dr Panya Condemned attacks on Jebbu Miango and it’s surrounding villagesthat were completely burnt down and inhabitants displaced, adding that some villages in Southern Kaduna experienced similarAttacks within the same period.
He wondered how such Attacks and killings of the locals could take place in Communities that are located behind the 3rd armoured Division Barracks of the Nigerian Army .
Dr Panya added that the Nigerian Armyand other security agencies should have Intervene to prevent these militia s from committing their heinous murdersand Carnage.
He cautioned that security agencies should rise up to the occasion so that the confidence of the people of Nigeria on them should not be eroded .
“We call on the state and federal governments and security agencies to intervene and prevail in the Nigerian Army and all security agencies to stop this genocide”
Dr Panya also insisted that Governments must rise up to their responsibility of protecting lives and properties for all citizens irrespectiveof their tribes , ethnicity or religion, otherwise the country would fast degenerate into total anarchy, he warned. (NAN)
