The family of veteran actress and activist, Rachael Oniga, has fixed dates for her burial rites.
News Express reports that the Delta State-born Nollywood actress and frontline activist died at age 64 from heart-related disease at about 10pm on Friday July 30, 2021 in Lagos.
Date for the burial is Friday August 27 while Sing Song/Night of Tributes holds on the eve of the burial, Thursday August 26.
This was disclosed earlier today by the deceased's sister, Deaconess Toyin Odusote when a high powered delegation from the Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM) otherwise known as the Third Force, and its registered political party, the People's Trust (PT), jointly paid a condolence visit to the family at Magodo Estate, Lagos.
According to Deaconess Odusote, the family is working on the two dates and will be formally announced to the public as time goes on.
During the condolence visit, NIM Director General, Sir Olawale Okunniyi, said the mass movement will remember the late actress and activist for a long time as her commitment, loyalty and service clearly stood her out.
Okunniyi said Rachael Oniga's place as a member of the steering committee of PT and member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of NIM will be hard to fill. He re-enacted the earlier promise by the Third Force to immortalise the legacies of the deceased and prayed that God will comfort and provide for the family she has left behind.
On her own part, Chairman of People's Trust, Lagos State chapter, Mrs. Omowunmi Bajulaiye paid glowing tributes to the late Rachael Oniga.
"She was very committed, straightforward and honest. I had the rare privilege of working with her in the party and I learnt a lot from her," said the party boss.
Also on the 8-man delegation was Apostle Niyi Damilola Ojekunle who is the Lagos State Vice Chairman of People's Trust. Ojekunle extolled Rachael Oniga's virtues and compared her to a shinning star.
"Some stars in the sky would attimes fall on earth without being noticed. But Rachael was not such. She was a star who shun across the universe before her demise. People know her around the world as a star, unlike most political office holders in government who are only known within their constituencies," said Ojekunle popularly known as Django.
