Widely acclaimed singer, songwriter, rapper and dancer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, has revealed the spiritual force behind his many successes in his musical career.

He claimed that he is a product of sacrifice.

According to the 29 years old Port Harcourt, Rivers State-born Media Technology graduate from the University of Sussex, London, the kind of prayers his parents prayed for him and his siblings (two sisters) are the driving force of his many successes in the music arena. The prayers are also the secret behind the high rate of academic achievements of his siblings.

The Grammy Award winner disclosed this yesterday (Thursday) when he took early morning delivery of an award plaque from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences which his album “Twice as Tall” was adjudged the Best Global Music Album of the year 2020.

He said his parents encouraged them in their choice of career.

The afro-fusion and Afrobeats superstar said his parents did not pray for them to have big houses, posh cars and such other material things, but they simply prayed for them to be excellent in their various undertakings. And the result of the prayers is what they are today in life.

“My parents prayed for excellent children, not houses, cars or ‘things’. They asked my sisters for stellar degrees. One got a First Class in Finance, the other got a Distinction in Engineering. They asked me for a Grammy, and here we are. I am a product of sacrifice! Thank God and thank you all again.”
