MASSOB Leader Uchenna Madu
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has expressed gratitude “to churches in Biafra land” for observing its call for prayers and special mass today, Sunday, May 30 2021.
It said the prayer was for the restoration of Biafra and remembrance of fallen heroes that died for Biafra.
MASSOB reiterated that Monday, May 31, 2021 will mark the climax of this year’s Biafra anniversary celebration with a sit-at-home exercise, describing it as an honor to the father land.
The group’s leader, Uchenna Madu, in a statement on Sunday said the exercise will serve as a unanimous massage to the international community that the people of Biafra speak with one voice.
The statement said: “MASSOB specifically express our heartfelt gratitude to the Catholic, Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian, Assemblies of God, Apostolic, Grace of God churches and others we may not mention their names.
“We also observed that some Yoruba owned churches who their state and zonal overseers are Yorubas did not allow their Igbo members to honour Biafra.
“The non-violence struggle for actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra is not meant for only pro Biafra organizations but all Biafrans.
“MASSOB condemns the Nigeria military intimidating projections against our people at their checkpoints, barracks and other illegal detention cells.”
