Ex-Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris
Hon Simon Yahaya, leader of People Living With Disability, in Kogi state has joined many Nigerians to celebrate former Kogi Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, on his recent turbanning as Jakadan Sokoto by the Sultanate.
He bared his mind during the Eid el-Fitr Salah homage to the former Governor in his residence at Asokoro area of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
He said their disability status had precluded them from attending the ceremony in Sokoto and the commissioning of Anyigba Central Mosque built by the former Kogi Governor, but deemed it fit to pay a thank-you visit.
However, he commended the former Governor for having them at heart always, stating that his reception even out of his tight schedules, portrayed his innate disposition towards their plight both in Kogi State and other parts of Nigeria.
Hon Yahaya recalled the better life created for People Living With Disability in kogi state while he was governor for nine years, saying posterity will continue to write his name in the annals of Kogi history in gold, for equating both the able and disabled as one human being that desired good life.
They prayed for more years in the service of humanity with his priority on the people living with disability and the vulnerable in the society, saying that his rewards will start while he is living.
Responding, former Kogi Governor and the new Jakadan Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris assured them of his continuous support to the welfare of people with special needs and prayed that God will continue to protect them.
He advised them to be patient and prayerful, saying the current unfavorable situation hovering around the country needs prayers and patience, as the two attributes is enough to tackle any negative development.
He thanked them for always identifying with him both within and outside Kogi state, praying that Almighty God will also keep them at heart.
