Seasoned banker, Dr Isa Salifu
By YUSUF ABUBAKAR
A renowned banker and board room guru, Alhaji (Dr) Isa Salifu, will be honoured with the title ‘Omachi Ejeh Dekina’ by the Ejeh of Dekina and Ag Chairman, Igala Area Traditional Council, HRH (Dr) Alhaji Usman Obaje, OON, on Saturday, May 15.
The conferment of the traditional title is expected to take place at the palace of HRH, Ejeh Dekina at 10.00am prompt.
Dr Isa Salifu's career sojourn in the banking sector spanned over three decades and contributed immensely to the growth and development of the Banking sector in Nigeria through strategic inputs in repositioning process of the sector.
He had at many times held various top management positions in many Banks, including Intercontinental Bank, Diamond Bank, the Polaris Bank (Afribank), Eco Bank and several others. He has left his footprint on the sand of time in the industry.
Dr Salifu, a community leader, philanthropist and opinion moulder has contributed greatly to the Igala nation, Kogi and Nigeria at large in leveraging contacts and roles to employ and empower many Nigerians in the banking and other sectors of the economy. Dr Isa was particularly instrumental to opening up of branches of banks in Kogi East (at a time) that ensured massive micro-empowerment of both young and the old. A quite achiever, he did all these without noise.
His communal efforts adored across both Kogi and Nigeria, as he has assisted in the building of many Churches and Mosques, sponsored both Christians and Muslims to Jerusalem and Makka, respectively, across Igala land, Kogi State and Nigeria. His life of religious tolerance is exemplary and worthy of emulation, particularly at this time in our nation building efforts.
Dr Salifu placed many people on scholarships both within and outside the country and has been a rallying point to all community activities in Agbeji, his ancestral home, Kogi East, Kogi State and Nigeria at large. He has equally given tremendous support to schools and capacity building initiatives across the land.
He is the Head of Salifu’s family in Agbeji and the son of late and foremost Madaki Agbeji, Alhaji Salifu Egah (Aju Akwu) who passed on in 1993.
Expected at the occasion are dignitaries from all walks of life, family members, colleagues, well wishers, all and sundry to grace the event as man of the people.
