Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kogi governorship aspirant in the 2019 governorship election and Senatorial hopeful for Kogi East, Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sulaiman, says politicians, both in leadership and aspiring for leadership positions, should learn to speak the truth to their followers and supporters.
He made the remark in his Sallah message to the people of Kogi East, Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
He said until our leaders and would be leaders will be ready to imbibe the spirit of transparency, just and truthfulness, the society will continue to pay dearly for it.
He stressed that the prevailing economic, health, social and security challenges bedeviling the country aside being a global issue was caused by leaders’ insincerity to their followers in Nigeria.
The senatorial hopeful described as deplorable, the attitude of self-seeking political gladiators when aspiring to leadership position or at ascension to these positions.
“How can a political leader and office seeker claimed to have gotten everything both in affluence, academic, business and what have you, yet the same politicians’ attitude does not conform with his utterances and his so-called achievements in his life sojourn.
“This gimmick is only geared towards acquiring political power and later abandoning their constituents, which Kogi East was known for over time,” Aminu said.
He opined that this trend must not continue in 2023, saying that there is need to domesticate political participation and political positions from Kogi East as well as the occupants.
“The era of deceitful politics and sugar coated utterances had gone with the wind, what we need at this critical time is political realists who are out to liberate our people from the current political logjam,” the PDP stalwart stated.
He warned on the consequences of making similar mistakes in 2023 and pleaded with mass electorates in Kogi East not to sell their votes for a lunch that will not take the area to the promise land.
He congratulated Muslims all around the world on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fast, praying that “we will continue to witness more years in good health.”
