Tension besetting the Gulf of Guinea is rising as militias suspected to be members of Biafra Nations League (BNL) have resurfaced in Bakassi Peninsula days after a deadly clash with Cameroon's Battalion d’intervention Rapide (BIR) in Isangele subdivision an area of Bakassi Peninsula.
The area had been ceded to Cameroon. In the video, the militia squad said they have decided to join the Biafran struggle lamenting that the people of the region have suffered for too long. They were chanting support for BNL.
Recall that the Biafra Nations League has vowed to shut down the Gulf of Guinea on May 30, banning travellers especially international vessels from entering Nigeria through the coast of Bakassi Peninsula on the Biafra day.
They threatened to hijack any vessel seen entering Nigeria or Cameroon from the Bakassi Peninsula area, which is the BNL’s operational headquarters.
