Kaduna NAWOJIANS
By GARBA MUHAMMAD, Kaduna
Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Kaduna State Chapter, has held a one-day National Solemn Assembly for Nigeria, on the theme, “Oh God, Heal Our Land”.
They converged at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna Council Secretariat to seek God’s intervention over the incessant killings, terrorism, kidnappings and other heinous crimes across the country.
Speaking with Journalists, Comrade Fatimah Aliyu Mahuta, NAWOJ Chairman, Kaduna State Chapter, said the exercise is in conjunction with the directive from the National President of the Association, Comrade Ladi Bala, directing NAWOJIANS across the country to pray and seek for God’s intervention over the incessant killings going on in the country.
“As mothers, it is pertinent to pray for the nation. Those causing mayhem are the seed conceived by women, therefore coming to together and cry to God will go a long way to preserve the destiny of Nigeria as a Nation.
“This prayer session today is based on the directive we received from our National President, Comrade Ladi Bala, asking all NAWOJIANS in the country to pray for our Country, due to the Insecurity challenges ravaging the country.
“As mothers, we are out today to ask God for his mercies concerning our children who are part of these vices for Almighty Allah to touch them and transform their lives so they can be useful to the society rather than causing havoc in the society,” she added.
Also speaking Comrade Maureen Sheyin, NAWOJ Secretary, Kaduna State Chapter, said the state of Nigeria as a Nation call for prayers, noting that “the rate at which people are killed on daily basis is alarming.
“We are here to pray, seeking for God’s intervention because there is banditry in the land. Boko Haram and other terrorist groups are wasting innocent lives on daily basis; hence a need for prayers.
“Human blood is flowing in our land and this is not ideal at all. So we have come to ask God for forgiveness in any way we have sin against him knowingly or unknowingly so that this inhumane acts can stop,” Maureen stated.
Comrade Adamu Yusuf Chairman NUJ, Kaduna State Council, in his remarks, called on government at all levels, to be proactive in their war against terrorism.
Comrade Yusuf who was represented by the councils Vice Chairman, Comrade Mohammed Sabiu, also noted that government has not shown Nigerians the zeal in their approach towards the fight and as such, many Nigerians have lost confidence in them.
He tasked them on intelligent gatherings, urged Nigerians to pray and lend helping hands to the government so as to be able to win the fight together.
He commended the leadership of NAWOJ, urging them to remain good ambassadors of the society.
