Era of killing with impunity over, El-Rufai tells Kaduna residents

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, yesterday declared that the era of killings with impunity in the state is gone, saying anybody found in the act will face the full wrath of law.

Speaking with journalists at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, Governor El-Rufai, while advising families and communities to live together in peace, said the spate of killings in the state must end now, warning that anybody who attacks or commits murder will not be spared.

El-Rufai, who spoke through his Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, also urged the people to embrace peace in the era of change as government is working round the clock to deliver real dividends of democracy to the people.

The governor also said no more buying of justice in the state and added that the present administration has strengthened office of the Solicitor-General in the ministry of justice as part of efforts to strengthen the judiciary for speedy dispensation of justice.

El-Rufai advised residents to report any grievances to security agencies for prompt action rather than resulting to killings which henceforth will not be tolerated.

According to the governor, “We are calling on the good people of Kaduna state not to commit murder or attack anybody in the state. All citizens in Kaduna State have the right to live in peace. Henceforth, the new administration will not allow killing of another fellow human being under any guise with impunity. If a husband kills his wife, he will face the full wrath of the law, the same thing if a wife or son kills her husband or father, she or he will face the law no matter highly the person is. Any one or group of people that any community will not be spared, we will not tolerate any kind of killings.

El-Rufai added: “Anybody who organises any attack on a person or community in any part of the state will also face the law. No more buying of justice in Kaduna State again. We cannot fold our arms and watch such ungodly act in the state. Our step to secure Kaduna State has no religious sentiment, favoritism and witch hunting. If anybody or group of persons has grievances or problem with any person report such person to security agencies, do not take laws into your hands. The era of impunity in Kaduna state has gone.

“You cannot take away another person's life because you have powerful people in government, it cannot work now under this new administration.”
