At least ten persons have been killed in two suicide bomb attacks at different locations within Potiskum town in Yobe State, northeast Nigeria.

An eyewitness quoted by Channels Television said that the first attack was launched at the local office of the vigilante group known as Civilian JTF in the Dorowa area of Potiskum.

The eyewitness said the suicide bomber gained access into the office and detonate the Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), killing seven people on the spot.

The second attack, according to him, was at Mashaya also at Dorowa area of Potiskum.

“The Bomber was heading to a rowdy location and was blocked on the way when the IED went off, killing two people and injuring many others,” the eyewitness was quoted as saying.

He said the first explosion went off around 12:20 noon.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack which is largely believed to have been carried out by members of the Boko Haram sect, terrorising communities in the North-East.

A hospital source told Channels Television that 10 bodies had been brought to the specialist hospital’s mortuary while 22 others were receiving treatment.

The attacks came just one day after Boko Haram terrorists attacked Babbangida, the headquarters of Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe.

Babbangida town is located some 50kms north of Damaturu, the state capital and few kilometres to Shekau village, the birth place of the Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.
