The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) has condoled the Odumakin family and Afenifere over the death of Chief Yinka Odumakin, a foremost human rights crusader in the country.

The Anambra State Chairman of CLO, Mr. Vincent Ezekwueme, gave the condolence while speaking with the newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday on what he called the sudden and shocking death of Yinka.

NAN reports that Yinka Odumakin, aged 56, died early hours of Saturday and until his death remained the spokesman of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere.

“CLO commiserates with astute and erudite activist, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, over the shocking and unbelievable death of his dear husband, Chief Yinka Odumakin.

“Yinka dedicated and devoted his entire life for the service of God and humanity.

“His courageous, selfless and fearless quest for justice, equity and egalitarianism society was legendary and unequal.

“It is on record that he alongside other patriots exhibited absolute integrity, patriotism and relentless efforts to revalidate annulled June 12 Presidential Election won by Chief MKO Abiola of Social Democratic Party.

“As a chieftain of National Democratic Coalition, he was in the vanguard of agitating for economic, social and political justice for all Nigerians irrespective of ethnicity, religion, state or clan cleavages,” he said.

Ezekwueme described Odumakin as a detribalised, nationalistic, selfless and dogged in fighting and standing for what is right, fair and just regardless the consequences to himself.
