The Hausa community in Akwa Ibom State has joined Akwa Ibomites in cerebrating Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel “for his overwhelming success at the polls and subsequent inauguration as the forth democratically elected governor of the state.”
Rising from their general meeting at the Udi Street residential/business office in Uyo, convened mainly to sensitise its members on the new government in the state, the community declared their support and preparedness to work with the new government.
Speaking through its leader, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki, the community stated: “We, the Hausas are peace-loving people, and as we had worked with the previous administrations in the state, we will continue in the same zeal and abide by the laws of the state in particular, and the country as a whole.”
The Hausas paid glowing attributes to the immediate-past Governor of the state, Chief (Dr) Godswill Akpabio (CON), “for what he had done for the people and moving Akwa Ibom State to a greater height.”
“We want to use this forum to commend the out-gone government of Chief Godswill Akpabio, for all he had done in the state, in the areas of infrastructural development, free and compulsory education, which our children equally benefit from, health care and investment in security, among others,” the community noted.
They also appealed to the new government, to carry them along in its programmes, pledging their loyalty and total support to the new administration, adding that they would use their up-coming Muslim fasting period to pray for continuous transformation of Akwa Ibom State, and for co-operation and unity among the indigenes and non-indigenes residing in the state.
Present at the meeting were, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, Chief Imam in Uyo and Alhaji Miji Yahwah, Secretary of the community, among others.
