President Muhammdu Buhari will announce his cabinet within days, News Express can report this morning.
The Nigerian leader has been under fire for failing to appoint ministers and key personal aides such as Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Government of the Federation two weeks after his inauguration on May 29.
“All that is about to end,” a source close to the seat of power said yesterday. “The list of the President’s aides and cabinet members is almost ready and will be forwarded to the National Assembly in a matter of days.”
Names mentioned as likely to be in the cabinet include former governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Babatunde Fashola of Lagos and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti.
The source would not confirm specific individuals on the list but told Nigerians to expect surprises when the list is made public. “Wait till next week when the bomb will be detonated,” he said, indicating that Buhari’s cabinet would become public knowledge not later than next week.
