Yola Blast: FG confirms casualty figure, provides medical aid for victims

In continuation of support to victims of last week’s bomb blast in Yola, Adamawa State, the Federal Government has distributed medical consumables to hospitals treating them and commiserated with the state government over the incident.

The Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Muhammad Sani Sidi, who led a Federal Government delegation including the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to Yola, told the Adamawa State Governor, Muhammad Jibrilla Bindow, that they were there to condole with victims and families of those that lost their lives on behalf of the Federal Government.

He prayed for the quick recovery of those receiving treatment in hospitals, assuring that security personnel would continue to partner with the state government and ensure that the entire citizen of Adamawa State were safe.

He added that NEMA would continue to provide all the necessary support to the victims, also urging Nigerians to always be security conscious to avert some of the ugly incidents.

Speaking, the Inspector General of Police, appealed to the public to always provide useful information to security personnel.

Responding, the governor thanked the Federal Government for the concern and assistance. He said the attack was the first in Yola and prayed it would not happen again.

The blast caused the death of 31 persons; injured 40 persons out of which 17 are receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital, Yola; 21 at Federal Medical Centre, Yola; and 2 at Police Hospital, Yola. Forty other persons with minor injuries were treated and discharged.
