The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has suspended the Chairman of the Delta State Council, Comrade Myke Arinze, indefinitely.

In a letter to Arinze, dated 19th May 2015 and signed by Secretary General of the union, Comrade Musa Lawal and made available to journalists, the National Executive Council of TUC took the decision at its meeting held in Lagos May 15, 2015.

While saying that the suspension was with immediate effect, the TUC scribe noted that the suspension was informed by Arinze’s refusal to comply with the directive of the National Executive Council at its meeting on December 13, 2014, to among other things, hand over custody of the TUC Delta State Council bus to the Council Secretariat.

For failure to handover the council bus to the secretariat, the National Executive Council found him guilty of insubordination, hence the suspension.

He directed him to promptly comply and submit all TUC property in his custody to the council secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, Comrade Lawson Efenudu, has been directed to take over the leadership of the union, pending the resolution of the issues at stake.

But Comrade Mike Arinzde said he remained the Chairman of TUC in Delta State, saying his detractors allegedly procured the document they are parading from the black market and it should therefore be discountenanced.

He described it as an object of blackmail by his detractors who want to balkanize TUC.
