Governor Ikpeazu charges new SSG to attract donor agencies

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has sworn in Dr Eme Okoro as the new Secretary to Abia State Government (SSG), charging him to use his wealth of Experience and contacts to attract donor agencies.

Ikpeazu performed the ceremony at the Executive chamber of Government House, Umuahia yesterday.

The new SSG who played a prominent role in the development of the blueprint on federal government's cassava initiative under President Olusegun Obasanjo and had served as General Manager, Abia State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP), would serve as the engine room of the Ikpeazu administration which the governor said must fashion out strategies to match the challenges ahead.

Ikpeazu hinted that government was seriously thinking about the means to boost its Internally-Generated-Revenue and strengthen the civil service for optimum service delivery. He assured that all activities of government would be geared towards giving Abians the best.

The new SSG, in his response, expressed gratitude to the governor for finding him worthy to serve Abia in his administration and promised that he would not betray the confidence that has been reposed in him. He said he was happy to be part of the team that would rebuild Abia.

Meanwhile, the Leader of Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Princewill Onyegbu, has described Dr. Eme Okoro’s appointment as a round peg in a round hole.

Onyegbu who represents Bende South State constituency in the Abia Legislature where the new SSG hails from, said that Dr Okoro was eminiently qualified for the job and commended Ikpeazu for making a right choice.
