By PASCHAL NJOKU, Abuja
Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday ordered the Nigerian Police to produce a former governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim and one Chinedu Okpareke, in court on March 3.
Ohakim and Okpareke were dragged to court by the Inspector General of Police over allegations of threat to life and harassment of one Mrs. Chinyere Amuchinwa.
The duo were scheduled for arraignment before the court on the 15th February, 2021.
However, both men were absent in court.
In the charge marked FHC/ABJ/CS/287/2020, the two accused persons were said to have threatened to release a nude photograph of Amuchienwa, if she fails to drop the charges of attempted kidnap against them.
When the matter was mentioned, Chief Suprintendent of Police, Stanley Nwodo announce appearace for the prosecution while Emeka Etiaba SAN, appeared for the first defendant, Okpareke.
Though, the police prosecutor said the defendants were served and were in the know of their arraignment, however the Judge noted from his file that no hearing notice was issued to them. (Daily Independent)
