Pro-democracy activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman
A pro-democracy activist, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, is been billed to be a Guest Speaker at the Annual Lecture of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) slated to hold today, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Rights House, 43, Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos State.
Former National President of the CDHR, Barrister Malachy Ugwummadu, will deliver the keynote address at the event, while the CDHR National President, Barrister (Dr.) Osagie Obayuwana, would be on seat during the programme.
Comrade Sulaiman, who is Executive Chairman, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), is well known as defender of the rights of the Nigerian masses, including workers and pensioners alike and a true defender of democratic values and ethos.
The Invitation Letter signed by Comrade Adekunle Shobanke and Comrade Ogunbiyi Samuel,the Ikeja Unit Coordinator and Secretary respectively, reads thus: “The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) Ikeja Unit, officially inform you that we are having our annual lecture and Award of Certificates to our members for their participation and support in the activities of the organization as a human rights activist which rises and defend of the downtrodden and less privilege in the society.
“We are using this medium to invite you as a Special Guest and Speaker for this special occasion and you are to treat a topic on Human Rights with a theme: ‘The Role of Human Rights Activist in the society’ and the time allotted to you is 4.00pm - 5.00pm.
”Sir, we will appreciate you for honouring our invitation as your presence will be an honour and will be highly appreciated.”
While accepting the invitation, Sulaiman, who doubles as Convener, Save Lagos Group (SLG), thanked the organisers for the honour done to him. He urged them to inform the participants at the event to come along with their Holy Quran and Bible, 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, and any relevant law books guiding the operational system of the country.
