Breaking News: Ex-Newswatch Chairman Ime Umanah dies in road accident

Prominent business man and politician, Dr. Ime Umanah, is dead.

News Express learnt that Umanah, one-time Chairman of the iconic Newswatch at the height of the magazine’s glory, died late yesterday in a road accident that occurred in Owerri, capital of Imo State.

“The accident happened when he was on his way back from Abuja,” a source said of the late business mogul.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Umanah was said to have travelled by road as a result of the crippling fuel crisis which grounded airlines before feuding oil marketers reached a truce with the Nigerian Government yesterday evening, resulting in the resumption of oil lifting last night.
