The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District and frontline governorship aspirant for the November 6, 2021 governorship election, Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), has called on the authorities to fish out those involved in the destruction of materials meant for Walk For Health programme in the early hours of Saturday, February 6, 2021, in Nnewi, Anambra State.

It was gathered that suspected thugs destroyed the materials for the programme put together by one of the governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Valentine Ozigbo.

Ekwunife while condemning the act said that such ugly trend should not be allowed in a peaceful state like Anambra.

In a statement signed by her Media Aide, Kingsley Ubani, she described the development as sad and unfortunate, saying that in her many years of participating in elections, Anambra has never witnessed such ugly incident.

“This,” according to Ekwunife, “is a new development which must not be allowed to thrive. Ndi Anambra are known for playing politics without bitterness.

“All stakeholders must work towards sustaining peaceful, purposeful and issue-based campaign.

“Anambra people are known for peaceful assembly irrespective of religious, political and social affiliation.”

The lawmaker commiserated with Ozigbo over the unfortunate incident, saying that such action should be condemned across the political divides.
