The Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has cleared the air on the crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, saying that Governor David Umahi has no hand in their ordeal.
The Caretaker Chairman of the opposition PDP in the state, Chief Fred Udeogu, had at a press conference in Abuja Friday alleged that Governor Umahi was secretly working to be in control of the party after defecting to the APC.
Udeogu also alleged that the lives of some influential members of the party in the state were being threatened by the Governor and some of his loyalists and appointees.
Addressing newsmen in Abakaliki Friday evening after PDP’s press conference in Abuja, Emegha described the allegations as laughable, and urged the opposition leaders to stop wasting their times on frivolities.
He said: “It is a laughable allegation because Governor David Umahi is no longer a member of the PDP and has no business whatsoever with the opposition party. He has moved to the next level and cannot go back to his vomit. Those alleging that the Governor wants to be controlling the PDP after leaving the party are unfair to the Governor.
“For the records, Governor Umahi is a bonafide member of the APC and the undisputable leader of the party in Ebonyi state. All his interests and politics now are all in APC. He has absolutely no interest in PDP. His interest is how to move the entire South into the APC, and ensure the victory of the party in Anambra during the forthcoming Governorship election.
“Some of the PDP members also alleging that the Governor was threatening their lives. This is laughable. They are all playing to the gallery. Some of them move around with as many as 8 mobile police men whilst some of us in government move without any security escort, and nobody has disturb them.
“The truth is that nobody is threatening their lives. They are just raising unnecessary alarms to draw undue attention to themselves.”
